Organizing Slack Workspaces
SeatGeek’s interview process for their product design internship involved a take-home design challenge. I was tasked with improving an app I admire and to not spend more than 4 hours on this task. I chose to redesign Slack. I received positive feedback on this design challenge and landed the internship!

WHY SLACK
Slack is a great tool to help you connect & communicate with others.
Slack’s design is also minimalistic, customizable and easy to use
PROBLEM
However, having a lot of Slack workspaces can be an overwhelming experience

I’m part of workspaces for various reasons, whether it be for classes, clubs or joining online communities
I have workspaces I don’t actively use, but I don’t want to sign out of. There are also some workspaces I use more than others
CURRENT SOLUTION
My only option is to sign out of the workspaces, however I don’t want to miss any updates!

THE CHALLENGE
How might we improve the Slack workspace experience?
SOLUTION
Grouping Slack Workspaces: empowering users to organize and customize their experience

A PROBLEM YET TO BE SOLVED
I made this case study in Fall 2022, and yet even in 2024 this is still a problem!
